38 Safety Hammerless Any Opinoins
Found in a 94 Year Old Lumber Yard Safe that went out of business. 2" Barrel. Shoots Remington 38S&W 147gr RNL bullets very well. Serial 93190.

Welcome! It looks much nicer than the average .38 SH of the era.
Can you post photos of the right barrel and top rib? Based on the shape of the front sight, my guess is it originally had a longer barrel that was cut down, a fairly common modification in these guns.

Interesting gun. Just based on the appearance of the surface, this does not look like a nickeled gun, which would be common, but a former blued steel gun that has been "de-blued" very nicely and thoroughly. Could be the light, though.

Looks like a 3rd. model with the front sight modified. It might
be the "bicycle" variation depending on what is stamped on
the right side of the barrel.

It is indeed a Third Model with the 93190 serial. 41001 to 116000. 1890 to 1898, so likely later part of the 1890s.

Added a couple more requested pictures. The gun was wrapped in a dry cloth in a cedar box. Time spent like that is not know. I am 70 years, love target shooting, but 20 rounds is about all my wrist can take.

Nice looking little pocket piece, but I agree w/murphydog that it looks like a chopper. Nicely done, though, no bubba job. Congrats !

The factory short barrel (2" and under) revolvers of this type usually have the stamped patent information compressed onto the right barrel, so this one appears to be skillfully modified. Enjoy!

Apologies for my manors, thank you all for the information. I am three months after a kidney removal and the occasional brain fog still bytes me. I was having no luck finding S&W info on my on other than serial number to approximate decade. The 20 round limit comment for me was because this little thing kicks pretty good. Glock 23 and H&R model 929 provide much more gentle fun for me right now.

Found time to shoot it
Finally found the time to go to the range. Only took 50 rounds because I assumed it would punish my wrist. Big surprise, my son and I wished we would have taken much more ammo. Shot Remington 146 gr LRN- RTG38SW. Very little kick and not as loud as my Glock 26. Lots of fun. Thanks again for the help and info. This could be a good carry weapon.

Meant Glock 26, not 23. Earlier rounds we had fired were unknown as to age and grains.Just something local dealer had loose. Only used them to see if unit was safe.

Thanks for the update and hope you are doing well after your transplant. Current factory .38 S & W ammo is loaded very light for use in older top-breaks; in the right light you can actually see the bullets in flight.

Not to mention a cool story behind it. "Barn finds" like that fascinate me. Thanks for sharing.
