Does it really matter what others think it is worth??? If you are happy with the purchase, that is all that matters. Looks like a well cared for Model 2.

It looks solid, worth it to me. Does it fall into the Civil War period?

What amazes me the most about these 150 year old revolvers is the condition of the stocks. The clear finish is almost always glossy and the wood shows minimal scars. Too bad the modern stocks don't fare as well.

Yes, nice shape. Seems all original, too. I'd say you're good.

The #2's don't seem to sell for high prices but yours looks fine.

Considering that these guns can sell from $1,000 to $1,500 if in good shape, I would say that you did just fine. Hard to tell from the photos if the gun has been "cleaned" and if so collector value takes a hit so that would be a factor. The photo of the top of the barrel looks like it has scratches which would indicate an abrasive cleaning. That could also just be lighting or camera flash.
It is always hard to evaluate a firearm from a few internet photos and a close up in hand examination is the only true way to be sure.
Still a cool gun and before the hand ejectors and the infamous M&P revolvers made the scene the model 2 and 3 revolvers were marvels of their time.
Certainly, the top breaks were an improvement to the tip ups design just as the hand ejectors were to the top breaks.
Everyone should have at least one in their collection.

James, I hope you are not impugning the quality of the M&P revolvers, since your term "infamous" means:
well known for some bad quality or deed.
synonyms: notorious, disreputable; wicked; abominable.

Do the assembly numbers all match ? Are the stocks numbered to the gun ? If so, then $800 is about average for what appears to be the condition of the gun, if the finish is original and not overly cleaned. Ed.
