Default Help Identify This Revolver

The ONLY markings on it say:

Latest Model Smith and Wesson

This is on the top of the barrel. There is no serial number he can find anywhere. It appears to be a 5 shot .32 caliber.

A friend of mine whose family used to rehab houses found guns in the walls of a house they were working on. He has now inherited them and asked me to assist him in identifying them. This is one that has me stumped.

Anybody have any ideas?

Welcome! I have no idea what company made it but definitely not S & W. Many other firms would stamp a reference to the cartridge chambering to make buyers believe it was a real S & W and I would guess this was the intent on this one.

Does the cylinder come out with removing the center pin, and you push out the empty casings with the pin?

Most likely a European made gun. Definitely not a Smith and Wesson made gun.

I was wondering that very thing since there is no serial number or model number anywhere he could find.

I love Smiths, but the really antique stuff is not my forte.

Not sure, but I shall ask him. He's in another state so I haven't handled it.

Edited: Yes, the center pin does come out and the cylinder comes out once the pin is out

He also has a nice Smith and Wesson Number 2 that is in fairly decent shape for its age (considering it was stuck in a wall space for decades) and locks up pretty tightly.

That model 2 is in pretty amazing shape aside from the cylinder, doesn't appear to be refinished.

That sure looks like a kit gun from back in the early 1960s from Dixie Gunworks in TN. Saw them as a kid at various shows. Pre 1968.

That "Model 2" is really a Model 1 1/2 first issue.

Damn I just looked at more pics. You are correct. My first thought was a Model 2 Army. But those have a different grip shape and look to all have longer barrels.

I have seen the Latest Model NON Smith & Wesson somewhere but cannot now track it down. I looked in Zhuk and Flayderman, but it is surely a foreign knockoff, S&W would have come down hard on anybody using their name that way.

It is a solid frame pull pin suicide special with the round bolsters on the frame to look like a top break's hinge.
I think it is broken, surely the sharp triangular bit is not meant to hang down in front of the spur trigger.

Jim, when I looked at it, it reminded me of a old timey can opener.

Are we talking about a Mod-2 or the can opener?

The first gun reminds me of a starter pistol.

Yes that piece is actually connected to the spring and I believe is the cylinder stop. The cylinder spins freely on it.

The serial number on the Model 1 1/2 is under 1500. I wonder about when it was made. I advised my buddy to contact Smith and Wesson and see what they can tell him.
