While I am sure you and everyone else wishes it was original, that is long gone. What is left is an interesting conversion done at a time when it was probably considered nothing but an old obsolete gun, Who know maybe it had barrel problems or what ever. I find it neat how it was converted.

Having done a few .22 conversions I'm very interested in the methods, ingenuity & expertise of others.
My latest, ca. 1995, a '51 Navy repro --

In 1969 I bought a Model 3, first model Russian that was converted to .22 rf. Price $39.50. Because of the mod the seller thought it of little value. I was able to drive out the barrel liner, and the rifling was still there and nice. Drove out the cylinder inserts, and made a new extractor star. Except for the FP bushing the restored gun looks great!

I wonder sometimes with all of the newer manufacturing being done by CNC machines rather than a actual trained machinest if this kind of work will be considered an almost lost art in America ,growing up there were lots of men in our neighborhood who were machinest and tool and die makers not so many anymore .Sorry I wanted to add beautiful guns thanks for posting .
