Default Model one second issue trigger spring replacement

We (Keith Hooton Palmer, MA) disassembled the model one second issue (very carefully) because the hammer was being captured but not consistently. We found a broken trigger spring.
Two questions:
Where can we find an original trigger spring?
Any suggestions?

The revolver is in amazing shape for its age.

There are two types of trigger springs in these Model 1, 2nd issues. Lower serial numbers have a single leaf spring and higher numbers have a V shaped spring. I suspect you have the V spring type gun. Either one is easy to make if you are handy with tools, etc. Get an old alarm clock main spring and clip a section from it long enough to make the new spring. If you have the single leaf spring, cut a piece the same length and install it in your gun. If you need the V spring , you will have to heat a piece of spring, bend it to the V shape and anneal it, then fit it to your gun. Gun dealers like Brownells or Midway sell bags of generic V springs that can sometimes be trimmed to work in a gun. Plan "B" is to look for a junker Model One, 2nd issue, and salvage the trigger spring. I'm not aware of any parts suppliers that would have the exact spring you need and the expense of having a gunsmith make a spring and repair the gun would exceed the value of the gun, so it's a DIY job . Ed.

Default Model one second issue trigger spring

Ed,
Thanks for your reply. I think my description may be wrong. It is a wound spring that could be the trigger return spring. I found this on ebay and bought it. We now have 2 extra parts if any one needs them.
Cheers,
Walt

Walt, there were actually three trigger springs used on Model 1, 2nd Issue guns. Ed described the two flat spring variants, and as you discovered there was also a coil spring variant. There were only about 4,000 of the coil spring trigger guns made in the 13,500 to 17,500 serial number range.
