Default It Never Hurts to Have Some Cash Handy

I recently picked up a .38 Safety Hammerless Fifth Model. It is well refinished with an excellent bore. Inset on the sideplate is a $1 gold coin; on the right side is a $5. The frame and sideplate are drilled to set the coins into the frame and sideplate. Smaller holes are drilled through the insets to punch out the coins from the rear.
I don't know if the coins are still full thickness and have no intention of removing them to find out. If they are, I bought the gun for little more than their scrap value.

Bob

Even front sights. Neat snag.

Truly a novel idea, but looks to be fairly well done. Must agree with the above; most unusual and a neat snag.

Later!

Roy Jinks has often stated that he is more fascinated by guns that have been modified to a specific owners desires than a plain Jane off the shelf version. Just seeing what some prior owners have done to their guns could be the basis for a collection unto itself.

Some modifications are done to improve how the gun shoots while others were done just because. If only these guns could talk.
