year manufactured top break 38S&W
258376
I know from reading other threads that it has no real monetary value.
I'm just curious as to possibly the year that it was manufactured.

Looks to be a .38 Safety Hammerless 5th Model. According to the Catalog, the serial range started at 220000 in 1907 and ran up to 261493 in 1940. I'd guess late 30s, but somebody here will know more about it than I do.

Nice 38 Safety. The 5th Model production ran from 1907 to 1940, but by 1920, demand dropped off and there is no way to come up with an accurate estimate for ship dates. Ending serial number for the 5th Model was 261,493. It could have been late 1920s to the late 1930s. Only a factory letter would give you the answer to your question.
