Had this on the hand ejector site but was advised to post it here to get expert information. My friend's 32 that was a family piece......any help appreciated.
This is a .32 Safety Hammerless 2nd model, from the mid-late 1900 decade. It has likely been refinished so its value is lower than of an original gun in equal condition.
That would be a 32 Safety, 2nd Model shipped around 1908. It has been refinished at some point, with the sideplate edges clearly showing some minor rounding and the S&W logo partially gone. Also, the hammer and top latch were originally blued, even on nickel guns. There were almost a quarter-million made, so value is low, maybe $150 to $200.
