Default Internal Safety For S&W 4th Model DA?

Hello, I’m researching adding to my collection a S&W 4th Model Double Action .32 s&w and wanted to know if this weapon was manufactured with an internal safety mechanism? I don’t know much about the history of these and don’t know if any of the models had safeties built in them.

The only safety device found on 32 DAs was a half-cock feature, which was actually only about a 1/4 cock. The only internal safety mechanism to be found on top break revolvers was found on the 38 DA Perfected revolver, 1st Change, which had a hammer block safety like early hand ejector revolvers. That feature is only found above serial number 57,500.

Thanks Gary! I guess the only way to carry it safely would be on a empty chamber.

then there is the universal safety on all revolvers ... if you don't pull the trigger ( or drop it in a certain manner on older revolvers ) it will never go off.
