Default S&W Break Open Revolver with Bank name on it.

Gentlemen good day. I am sourcing information on this revolver for a great friend of mine who simply would not know how to do this.
Itís pointless for me to offer anything more other then this revolver belonged to his deceased Grandfather. If I knew more then this I would offer it.
He is not trying to sell it and in fact did not ask me to do this. I found it interesting and having been around guns more so then the average person I took upon myself to get more info for him.
I have never seen an actual Bank referenced revolver. The fact this was an S&W over being say an H&R or other inexpensive revolver was compelling to me.

Thank you in advance for any and all information provided.

I would ask if this would be worthy of trying to obtain greater info from S&W directly or this actually is quite common or near common.

Welcome to the Forum! The gun is a .32 Double action. If you can supply the serial number, we can tell you much more about it. Is the bank's name etched or engraved ? You can obtain a factory historical letter which will tell you if the gun was shipped with the Banks's name, however it's most likely it was done by a S&W distributor, or the bank itself. Ed.

Great question on the bank name.
There is a slight depression to it. It may very well be etched vs engraved. I did run my finger over it to assess how deep it was.
I do notice there is a bank called National Exchange Bank and Trust. Established 1933.
I will get the serial number.

Thanks again..

Welcome to the forum. I would not want to be shot too many times with that little 32, it might hurt a little. Quick research of the Exchange National Bank shows it started in Milwaukee, WI, named in 1865, so certainly in business at the time your revolver was made.

Patent dates on the barrel rib were abandoned around 1909, so that revolver is considered modern by BATF regulations. The 32 DA is a relatively low cost revolver, partly due to the large number made (327,641), the anemic caliber, and also because overall demand remains low to many collectors.

As for value, Under $200 would be my guess, but maybe collectors in Wisconsin would pay slightly more??

You probably know that the hinge screw is missing.

Looks like you actually need two parts. These parts are the joint pivot and the joint pivot screw. You can find them on gunpartscorp.com for $5 each and get that gun back in working order. Look for Smith & Wesson, then scroll down to 38 Double Action. That is a nice gun and deserves repairing.

The joint pivot goes in from right to left and the screw is tightened on the left side.

Default Missing cam?

Probably missing the cam also. Thatís a little more difficult to find ď complete ď.. makes me wonder if itís matching? If the cam is still inside the barrel? You better wire it in for now or itís going to fall out!
I gotta feeling it fell out a long time ago!

Hey! Itís missing the latch screw also! Whatís holding this Smith together? Gravity?

Wait, if you look closely at photo two you can barely make out a non original screw? stuck in place to keep the latch on board.
