Any help dating a Model 2 Army with SN 32580 would be greatly appreciated!

If you look at page 7 of the Database, a gun about 200 numbers later shipped on 1/19/1865, so yours is fairly close. I am guessing these shipped as soon as they were made during the Civil War (or War of Northern Aggression, depending on your location).

The gun one number away from yours is listed but without a date. Or to be sure, you can get the letter of authenticity .

The Model 2 is a well documented gun and one of only a few models where the actual manufacturing year is easily obtained. Neal & Jinks book states the years manufactured for all Model 2 revolvers. Serial numbers below 40,000 are accepted as a Civil War gun and your serial number would have been made in early 1865. Many Model 2 revolvers made during the war were bought by Union soldiers.
