Default Unusual Second Model Singleshot

Seems I can't keep away from the oddballs. This is an excellent condition 8" .22 caliber. The muzzle has an interrupted thread adapter, indicated by seller for a Maxim suppressor, which I believe. Appears to be a press fit which does not move under moderate pressure. The front sight has an insert, which I suspect may have been the base of a taller blade to clear the suppressor.

The rear sight has been replaced with a taller sight, unlike any that I am familiar with. Did Maxim offer sights to accommodate their suppressors?

Default 2nd Model

I'm pretty sure it is a Maxim adapter, also a barrel weight with it as the single shots end of the barrel want to rise up when fired. I have not seen the rear sight before, I am sure you will want to get a letter on this nice pistol, great find. I love these modified guns that horrify the purist collector, & which are often worth more than a "pure" original one.

Found part of the answer regarding toe source of the adapter:

"The Maxim Company offered many different couplings designed for attaching silencers to the muzzles of firearms that did not have threaded barrels. For .22 up to .32 caliber there was a coupling designed to be driven (with a mallet) onto the muzzle end of the barrel."
