It's a little out of my wheelhouse but I really like it. The guy had a 38 SH, both were his grand father's, but someone beat me to the 38. Grips are near perfect! Waiting for a ship date.

That would best be called a 32 Safety, 2nd Model. That model was made from 1902 to 1909. Interesting that the nickel finish appears to be original, but someone stripped the case coloring and blue off the top latch, the trigger, and the trigger guard. Maybe used some Naval Jelly to remove rust spots on the nickel and it will strip bluing fast!! Without the serial number we cannot give any estimates on shipping.

The side plate seam should look like a hair, not a groove. Still a nice little representative piece.

SN is 92787. The very small markings on the barrel top rib are perfect, so possibly only the lower portion has been refinished. The give away is the plating over some pitting on the right side, just behind the recoil shield. SCSW labels as the .32 Safety Hammerless.

1900 seems to be an accurate guess for ship date. Roy Jinks called it a Safety revolver, but hammerless is fine to use, and as a matter of fact, it was named 32 Hammerless Safety in the S&W 1900 Catalog. The confusing thing about top-break S&Ws is that they used both "Change" and "Model" when naming. My only clue as to why is that some top break revolvers that were named like Model 1 of Model 1 1/2, etc. used a change number. Those top-breaks that used caliber in their name, like 32 Single Action or 38 Double Action used model numbers to differentiate the design changes over the life of the revolver.
