Default S&W .38 Double Action Top-Break

I have a S&W Double Action Top-Break .38 that I believe is a 3rd Model. Serial number is 307XXX Can anyone tell me an approximate date it was made?

Welcome to the Forum. Pictures would help, but that serial number puts the production in the 3rd Model time-frame. They were made from 1884 to 1895, in serial number range 119,001 to 322,700, so all 3rd Model 38 DAs are antiques. Your revolver most likely shipped from the factory in 1893 or 1894.

The last patent date on a 3rd Model is Jan. 5, 1882.
