Hello All,

I've been lurking and learning here for awhile. Tonight I decided to become a member and post some pictures of my collection for your enjoyment and discussion. The first is a #3 second model in .44 American. Its sporting nickel plating and number matching walnut grips. Second is a blued Schofield Wells Fargo marked first model. Serial numbers seems to be matching with the exception of the walnut grips. Last is a blued New Model Target in .38-44 with mother of pearl grips.

I was bitten with the antique S&W bug a couple of years ago when I found the .44 American in a LGS. As they say, the rest is history!

For a beginning collector, you have an outstanding collection. You have certainly done your homework and purchased pieces with condition and without later refinishing.

Welcome to the forum from Texas! I also think you should consider joining the Smith & Wesson Collectors Association as well as the Historical Foundation. Both have an amazing group of people! You've got a great start on your collection.

Nice save on these oldies.

Somehow, I don't think that he's a beginner.

He may be new here, but a collection like that doesn't happen overnight.

Really neat guns there, and welcome from Virginia! I think if I had those, I'd have to grow a handle bar mustache and wax the tips just to go to the range.

Thanks to all for the warm welcome and compliments! I will check out the SWCA as per your recommendations.

My dad started to take me to gun shows when I was a young boy over 40 years ago. Back then I bought what I could afford on my lawn mowing budget. $35 Arisaka rifles etc. As the budget increased so did the quality of the purchases. That's how I arrived at where I am now. All 3 of the antique S&W revolvers I posted were purchased locally within 30 miles of my home.

To answer Sal, the Schofield is serial number matching on all of the parts you mentioned except the grip panel and the barrel catch screw. Are there any additional places that I should look for numbers?

Thanks again for the camaraderie! Best of luck with your collecting.

Real nice group of revolvers. It would be a bona fide miracle to find guns like yours within 30 miles of my home. Welcome from BC.

Upper catch screw replacement and switched grips from another Schofield will not hurt the value by much. I have replacement screws (mfg new by old specs) for this very reason.

Many times the gun could be in nice or better condition but the catch screws are boogered .. what are you to do ? In that instance I wouldn't deduct much from the value for replacement screw, if correct. I have replacement screws for the barrel catch in stock as well as a slew of other Model 3 and Schofield parts.;.

About 30 years ago a few of the old time members got together and had a machinist make them these replacement screws

Best Regards, Sal Raimondi, Sr.
