Can you post some better images, ones taken outside in indirect natural daylight?

Close ups of Barrel texts also.

Looks like a refinish to my own glance, but better images might help decide for sure.

Mother of Pearl Stocks are a big "plus", but a refinish is a big "minus".

Front sight looks to have been modified for shape, but the shape has a nice look to it.

Other things to make sure of, are...a bright Bore with sharp rifling, clean bright Cylinder chambers, nice, not worn Cylinder Ratchet / Ejector Star Teeth, and for timing and lock up to be crisp and positive. Often enough old Revolvers have not been cleaned inside or lubed in a long time, and this can make for sluggish or even inoperative Mechanisms.

These are wonderful little Revolvers and very fun to have and take to the range now and then.

".38 S&W 2nd Model"

Refinished examples ( no matter how seemingly pretty ) will have a much lower value than honest originals.

"Plenty nice enough" ones may be had on Gunbroker for mid 4s, low 5s...if you are wanting to find a nice example to own and enjoy.

The MOP Stocks are fairly rare and valuable, but the refinish kind of kills the Revolver for me anyway...and I would not have encouraged anyone to get it even at '5'...unless they were wanting it only for the MOP Stocks.

Here are my two 38 single actions. I doubt I have $500 in both of them. With the refinish on that one $300 should be tops, and I wouldn't pay that.

The refinish and ill fitting side plate would have me walking away at any price for that one.

I concur. Someone really attacked this gun with a buffing wheel. The grips are nice, but the package isn't worth anywhere near $500.

I'd pass on it. You can do much better, especially at that price.

It is clearly a replate. (The hammer should be case hardened, not nickeled.) Five hundred is too much. & $750 is way over the top.

Really nice ones go from $500-600.

Value of the photed gun is around $250 maybe, and not to a collector. It's basically a shooter, if bore & action are good. $750 is wishful thinking ! Ed
