Default New Model 3 Grip Size

Greetings, new to the forum. Don't know why considering my life long love of all things Smith and Wesson. My Grandad worked for SW for thirty plus years. I recently inherited his collection, one of which is a New Model 3 less its original grips. Am I correct that the 3 Frame, specifically the grip size, is unique and not to be confused with a J ? Thanks all and Happy Turkey Day ! JG

Welcome to the forums from the Wiregrass! I believe I have read that #3 frames are around the same size as K frame modern grips. However, someone more knowledgeable than me will be along shortly to give you expert information.

New Model 3 Stocks are a larger than K Frame...and longer than N Frame...and have a larger size half-circle at the top than K or N.

So...the New Model 3 Stocks are a unique size and proportion.

Welcome! By any chance, was your grandfather named William (Bill)?

The New Model 3 stocks are almost unique, but I believe that the 320 Revolving Rifle has the same stocks. Compared to K frame round butt, they have a very large top circle and overall a wide top. They are also very hard to find. Post a picture of your revolver.
