Default Help on a S&W top break SA 32 revolver

I have an old S&W top break SA 32 Spur trigger revolver S/N 30204 that needs a trigger spring. I have searched the various parts houses, No luck. I would appreciate any help in locating this spring. Thank You. RR

War Eagle. Do you happen to have a trigger spring that would fit my Spur trigger? Thank You RR

Off the top of my head, I think the trigger spring you're referring to is a V spring.
I've made many replacement V springs for antique revolvers by cutting a piece off a black paper binder spring clip (from Staples, etc.). The ones you squeeze like a clothes pin. They're dirt cheap. If it takes a few tries to get it right with a Dremel cutoff wheel, so what. You're out a dollar or two and a little bit of time.

Another option is to buy some spring steel at Brownells and go to work following the instructions. 1/32" (.03") is good for small springs, while you can go up in thickness to make your own mainsprings. You can cut a piece to size and sand it until the thickness and bend it to exact shape desired and then harden it with a torch. Nice thing about spring steel is that it is very soft and easy to bend into sharp corners without cracking. I bought some 20 years ago and still have some left and use it from time to time for small springs.

I sincerely thank all for the suggestions and comments. I will try to make the spring but have arthritis in my hands making it difficult to do that kind of work. I will give it a try and see how it works out. Again thanks to all. Dick

Sounds like it is time to find an aspiring young person with mechanical abilities. You can supervise and the apprentice can learn.

Chris;
Thank You for this suggestion. I made a spring out of a paper binder spring clip and it seems to work fine. Thanks to all. RR

So glad to hear it! Penny springs today were difficult to make a hundred years ago.

You might want to give Wolff Gunsprings a call.I recently order some V springs, for a U.S. Revolver from them, they needed a little tweaking, but they work great.
