I owned number 22673 at one time which was inscribed to an officer in the Army and had it lettered. It was shipped in March 1864, and the inscription was dated April of 1864.

Supica/Nahas book hints that any Model 2 under around 40,000 would be considered as eligible for Civil War issue. Examples bracketing yours available to me are 26266, shipped February, 1864 and 26597, shipped in June 1864. Since there were over 40,000 guns shipped in just over a three year period, they left the factory in large lots as fast as they could be manufactured. That meant that they shipped pretty much in serial number order until the Civil War was over.
