Default Breaking my heart!!!

I just saw a S&W Mod.3, nickel finish, that looks like new for sale up here in Canada. The seller says it looks unfired and from the condition, he ain't wrong. He's asking $5900. (Cdn), but for me, the real heart breaker is the fact that it's in .44-40. Up here in Canada if a pistol is pre 1898 AND in a not-readily available calibre, it's considered "antique" and no license or official paperwork is required to purchase. So what's breaking my heart? The price is way beyond what my pension would allow and if it was in .44 Russian, or .44 S&W, it would fall into the no paperwork category. Sadly, with the advent of cowboy action shooting, both .44-40 and .45 Colt ammo are now commercially available so a buyer would have to register it and be subject to the all the whacky and draconian firearms laws we have surrounding restricted or prohibited firearms.

That is terrible. I hate what has happened to you guys there in Canada. I sure hope it does not happen the 46 or so free states left here in the US.

I'll send you the $$ Then meet me at the border at our prearranged location and we'll make a run for it!

Or, meet me at the southern border and a limo will bring you right to the house!

OH, IF ONLY!!!! Maybe one of you good folks know if antiques are still exempt from tax and duty by both of our border services. Again, even though the pistol itself is antique, the calibre puts it into the restricted category up here. How stupid! Mind you, stupid is far to mild a word to use in regards to our Liberals ideas of gun legislation. What Biden is trying to do to you lot is an accelerated version of the "death by a thousand cuts" steady and insidious erosion of our firearms rights that's been going on for about 20 yrs.

Here, it could be sent to me in the mail for $12 if it was physically in the US.

Isn't that like $250 US?

Sorry to poke fun at my northern (and in my case, eastern) neighbors! I'm old enough to remember a time when the Canadian $1 was worth $1.07 US.

My brother refers to our dollar as the Canadian peso, so no offense taken by this canuck.

I love my home and native land, but this is one of the many reasons I will never, ever move back to Canada.

Some years ago I reached out to the RCMP to clarify whether the Model 1 could be classified as an antique, based on the fact that it's chambered in the long-obsolete .22 black powder rimfire round. No-can-do ... the Mounties told me that since it's a .22 rimfire, it would be classified as a prohibited weapon.

You just can't fix stupid.

Mike

Default Barn/Attic find. Bubba "fixed" and deactivated it.

Hi everyone!
I saw this piece ( not mine ) a Year ago. Attic find, Bubba "repaired" and "deactivated" it. 🙁
In that country even in this condition it is highly Illegal, 2-8 year prison if they catch You with it! The owner keeping it in his dogs-house!
Cyrillic letters in the top says manufactured in Springfield , USA.
Obviously No.3 Russian Contract in .44 Russian.
