I'd like to know what is the purpose of this knurled part on my subject revolver.

Extractor Cam catch. Moving the catch towards the butt as the barrel is pivoted forward, the extractor will not eject the shells.

You're welcome. I'm an Antique S&W type. I don't know squat about anything Modern. The best I can do is Ladysmith and Model of 1896 Hand Ejectors. After that I'm lost. Glad I could help.
