Anyone own 3rd Model Single Shot ser#7730 w 10" 'Olympic' bbl..?
Going thru some old paperwork I found a S&W Factory letter for the above dated 1-2-'81.
I owned the pistol back then for a short time but had sold it and forgotten all about it.
I do not remember having written for a Letter, but here it is with it's envelope.
If anyone has the pistol , trying to bring the two together.
I'll send the paperwork to you no charge.
If there was another shorter bbl originally with the pistol, I never saw it.
Didn't know much about the guns then,,not alot more than that now!
Just thought I'd offer the Factory Letter up to someone who may have the pistol at this time.
When I had it, it had only the 10" bbl w/it/on it.
The chamber was indeed the Olympic style, needing the shooter to press the cartridge with finger pressure to seat the round into the rifling ahead of the chamber.
AFAI Remember that 10" bbl was ser#'d the to frame but I cannot be absolutely sure.
I owned it for a time,,shot it some, sold it after while.
I think I bought it in '79 or '80.
Well, if it was shipped with an extra barrel, it as well as the original would have been numbered to the frame. I was just confused/curious because of what I could see of the letter.
Anyway, I wish you well in your effort to hook the letter up with the gun. I made a similar effort with a set of pre-war N frame Magna grips----squeaky clean like brand spanking new----tried several times over a period of several years----no joy.
