Hello all:

Just 'won' a GB auction for an S&W Safety Hammerless .38. Serial no. 1395XX

This looks like a 4th model (later style latch, pinned sight but I am not 100% certain. Serial number is 1395XX, if anyone has the reference tables at hand.

The parts I know I need are available from Numrich, and I have a couple of parts diagrams. Is there any resource on field and/or detail stripping lemon squeezers?

We got bubba grips, bare metal, and dubious amateur 'smithing here. I hope to salvage a shooter.

Thanks

Yup you bet its a 4th model Serials number runs from about 116003 to 220000 roughly.I ordered a firing pin from Numrich about a month ago and still haven't herd anything yet on it. As for a good book on stripping it down i haven't found one yet that goes into detail but i'm sure theres one out there somewhere.Good luck on redoing it.
