Don and Francois,
Your compliments are much appreciated.
I work hard at my craft, and inspiration is what I seek.
BTW, Our friend, Jim Supica, asked me for many of the composites in stacked form, so that he might be able to use images for the new book. I cannot wait to see what he has done. I sent MANY images of Models from about 2001..on. Also, I photographed all of David Nowak's post- war guns and many of Tom Horwedel's pre-war guns, and he has copies of those. The new book should be stellar.

Has anyone heard of when it might be expected to be available? I saw on Amazon they are taking orders for a possible April delivery. Is Jim going to sell signed copies as he did last time for #3?

I have a pistol like the one in the top picture except it has a long barrel. Any idea what it might be worth?

It appears to have been added to the frames somewhere past 15,196 serial numbers. We know for sure it is on the serial number 15348. Thanks guys and any help will be appreciated.
I asked that question on this forum recently and the consensus was approx 1896

I own a 4th model too that is a single action, factory engraved and with ivory grips. It was obviously carried alot but still really neat to look at. You've got to love top-break Smiths and top-break Merwins.

I just stumbled across this thread and wanted to share my one Smith & Wesson top break. This isn't as nice as a lot of the pieces shown here, but it is a treasure to me. This originally was my Grandfather's gun, which he carried in his shop in Freeport, IL. It was passed to my Father who carried it when he and my Mother traveled over the years. I inherited it upon my Father's death several years ago. This is the gun that started me down a long and slippery road.....

Default .22 Single Shot S & W Pistols & Belgian Copy

Here are the four S&W single shot target pistols I own, at top is 3rd model with the early "short chamber" Olympic barrel; below it is a converted 32 S&W barrel with bottom of chamber ground down to fit all three models [no serial numbers]; second pistol from the top is 3rd Model with Pope barrel with trigger stop, lead weight inside butt frame, & larger front sight with a Beakert type rear target sight mounted on top of the existing factory base. Second from the bottom is 1st model with Pope Barrel, trigger stop, knurled trigger, & side screw adjustable rear target sight. At bottom is 1st model with 8 inch barrel. Also threw in my latest purchase, a Belgian copy of the Stevens Lord #36 in 22 LR, with Niedner Rifle Corp. 12 inch barrel with ivory bead front & ghost ring type rear sights, ebony wood grips, with all other parts case colored, barrel also has the short Olympic chamber.

I own 11 tip-up and top break S&W, but among these, I'm particularly fond of these two which are engraves : a model 1 1/2 second issue 32 RF and a Baby Russian 38 S&W with pearl grips.

Scratched up guns are not really my cup of tea but those two, especially the first one, are very cool.

I have several top breaks of various makes etc. But, this one just came back from gunsmith today & I shot it this afternoon. It's a .38 from about 1891 (serial # 39xxx). This one was carried by a security guard at a textile plant in NC over 100 years ago. All the nickle is gone . But, it shoots very well and has the smoothest trigger pull I have ever felt on a Safety Hammerless.

Glad this old post have been resurrected but too bad almost all of the photobucket photos are gone.

Would have enjoyed seeing those photos that are no longer available.

Cover photo for the Colorado Gun Collector's show guide. Second Model with original holster and lanyard. Revolver and holster were used by Lt. Col. Stephanski under Vrangle in the Russian Civil war. Lanyard is correct but not original to the set.

dayenu4570, welcome to the forum. I don't have the parts but please go back one page and click on the NEW THREAD button on the top left. Submit your inquiry as a new thread; this one is about pictures. Better yet, go to the Want Ads and ask there (NEW THREAD button) as someone may be able to help.
