My Pre Model 19
I have tried to search this. No luck. Appreciate any help. Value etc.
Pre Model 19? No 19 stamped anywhere.
SN: K262XXX
Ramped front sight and target rear with no white outline.
Nickel 4"
10 groove back strap.
When they refer to frame screws is it all or just the side plate?
3 screw side plate.
On the frame behind the yoke is stamped with part#, Y, and a tiny 7.
It has LEO holster wear.
Thank you.

You would count that one in the front part of the trigger guard also.
You have a 4 screw.
I think they started at 262,xxx so you have a very early gun

It is hard to tell in the photos, but are the trigger and hammer nickel plated or case hardened? If it was refinished, it will detract from collector value. Is there a screw in the underside/front of the trigger guard? Others will be along that can narrow this down more for you. You will be amazed at the information and education you can acquire on this forum.

Are the magnas numbered to the gun? If they are it be unique. Most Combat Mags I've seen had diamond targets. Is the frame stamped with an N?

The Combat Magnums started in the K261xxx range. As Weatherby said it is an early gun. I believe that unrelieved diamond targets were on these early guns not magnas.

Combat Magnums started with serial number 2600001, so yours should be a first year production or close to it. They never had the top sideplate screw, but started with what we call 4 screw guns. They shipped standard with target stocks. If it is factory nickel, it should have an N on the left side of the frame and maybe on the cylinder, maybe under the extractor. The sideplate line looks factory.

The combat magnum has been refinished in nickel at some point in its life; the hammer and trigger should be color case hardened. The front sight should be blued on this vintage of revolver if factory nickel.

I cannot see very well. Is this a .357 Magnum?
I think I have seen a nickel front sight on another model before...

The Combat Magnum has been refinished in nickel. The ramp base and sight blade were blued on revolvers finished in nickel until 1967-1968.

Thanks all.
.38/.357
There is no N and the trigger, hammer, and firing pin are nickel.
The grips have a SN 248XXX, so no match to the gun.
If I polish it. With what? It looks like some over zealous cleaning has been done as there are spots that are discolored to a slight yellowish cast. Anything I can do about that?
The person who gave this to me said he got it in the fifties, but I am not sure.
I like my N frames, but this K handles very well. It is a treasured heirloom that I enjoy shooting.

Here is a factory nickel Combat Magnum:
With Box...the grips match, but the lighting makes the left panel look darker.:
