First off, it is not a .32 Hand Ejector! It's a Model of 1905 Military and Police that is chambered for .32-20.
Your gun is a K frame. .32 Hand Ejectors were on the small I frame.
Looks like yours is a 2nd change from 1906-1909.
.32-20s with factory target sights are scarce and extremely collectable. If your gun was in the more common .38 special, then that would be a fair price. Given that it is in .32-20, then it's worth closer to a grand depending on the day.
Hope this helps

Chris called it: it's a K-frame .32-20 Hand Ejector. You can tell by the stamp ".32 WINCHESTER CTG." on the barrel. The I-frame .32s (and the later K-32 Masterpieces, which are almost all postwar) are chambered for the .32 S&W Long.
The serial number puts it about 1907. Looks good for a century old.
The company made about 144,000 in this caliber before suspending manufacture before WWII. Most were fixed-sight guns, and the adjustable sight versions command a premium. This one looks to be in pretty good shape, apart from the blueing loss on the barrel. Stocks are nice.
The $600 offer is about right for this gun with fixed sights, or maybe slightly generous. But the target version should bring a 50-100% premium, according to the Standard Catalog of Smith and Wesson. My thinking is that you ought to get at least $900 for it from a collector, and maybe a little more.

Hi
That is one Super Rare Puppy there. I have Never seen a Pre-War M&P Target like that or even close to that condition in the fixed sighted common level of them. You had better dive on it for $600.00. I bet it is worth almost "Three" Times that in the Real selling world... Hammerdown

gunteach:
Your friend is giving you a good deal. That's a 32-20 Hand Ejector 1905 Model 2nd Change and it's the target model. The target model's were built on the suare-butt frame only and fitted with with checked diamond walnut grips. Those type of grips with the concave tops are scarcely seen.
The target model's usually command anywhere from 50% to 100% over the price of a regular 32-20 revolver.
Yours was made from about 1906-1909 with 11,699 made. The serial number range is 33501-45200.
Buy it at that price. Any knowledgable collector would jump on it at that price. A dealer would most likely pay that price easily for it. It's worth more than $600.
Question - is that a 6" or a 6-1/2" barrel? Revolvers with a 6-1/2" barrel are not found very often, usually scarce.

I understood the OP currently owns the gun . . . not such a good deal for the seller.
