Very nice Bill. Can you tell me if these N.M.M. Combat Magnums are hard to find?
Thanks again for sharing a wonderful revolver.

Curtis...No box with this one, but I assume it did not ship with a case. Pre-19s are not the hardest guns to find, but it is hard to find them in 98 percent or better condition, since many were working guns.
Mike...I was wondering if you were ever going to post a picture of K2600XX. Nice stocks!! You should do an article on it for the S&WCA Journal.

Bill
You probably remember the stocks - I bought them from you !
Bill Jordan had put a pair of elaborately-carved ivory magna-style
stocks on the gun - a bit too elaborate for me. The gun was shipped
with the early no-extractor-relief-cut walnut target stocks, and these
are exactly that.
I still have the Jordan stocks - they'd make a good paper-weight !
Regards, Mike

Bill, just beautiful, this is exactly the model I'm looking for. When you get tired of it please send it to NY!

That gun is beautiful!
Didn't that ship at about the same time as the football relief came into being? I noticed that it appears to be smaller in area than later relief cuts.

Chuck, you're forgetting...you're trying to "trim" your collection to "29-1's"! Your comment should have read,
"Bill, just beautiful, this is exactly the model "J.C." is looking for. When you get tired of it please send it to "Wyoming!"

J.C. you're right but I need another 1956 magnum to put with my ever growing 1956 display.

Early Combat Magnums....
Fine Examples All Gentlemen....
Bill, a question.... Are the Targets numbered to the frame on your gun?
I saw a Combat Magnum recently that is serialed between yours and Mike's that was so marked and looked straight....

VERY Nice
Bill and Mike:
Thanks for posting those great pieces. I agree that finding a 98%+ CM is not very easy (I own 3, all of which were worked in their life and are something less than 98%).
Bill: Does that gun have a six groove back-strap? I believe that 260001 has a six groove, as my 260039 has six groves, I just cannot remember when they went to the ten groove strap. I know that this was discussed before, I just forgot to make a note of it....

Doc, can't you stick with the 44 and leave some of the lesser calibers for us? Great looking gun!

RK...The CM in the 261000 range has six grooves. I also have a CM in the K264000 range that has ten grooves in the back strap.

Any chance of seeing Jordan's ivory grips .... even if they are being used as a paperweight?

Next time my errant photographer shows up, we will get a couple of
pictures of Jordans stocks, on and off the gun.
I'm the third owner of the gun. It was originally delivered to Bill
Jordan. He sold it to Col. Rex Applegate in 1980, and after his
death in 1998, I bought it in the Devine Auction of Sept 26, 1999.
If anyone has a copy of that auction catalog, and has a scanner, they
might copy the page that has the pictures of the gun, and post it here.
Later, Mike Priwer

I hope no one minds if I jump in here. This one shipped in May of 1956. SN K260082. The grips do number to the gun.

I certainly don't mind! Actually, this thread pretty much clears up some questions asked on my Combat Magnum thread. This would be proof positive that 1956 guns were shipped with Football Targets. Thanks for posting.

Yes, thanks for that picture of the early football cutout grips.
Years ago I saw and handled K260006, but don't recall which grips it wore.
