Default S&W King Super target I just bought

A dealer at the WAC show this weekend had about 100 new guns on consignment. There were a lot of S&W M&Ps. This one was $265. It came with the diamond magna grips shown in the pictures as well as a factory letter showing shipment to LA in 1917. It has the King Super target rib and sights. The bead is missing any soucre for a replacement? Today I bought the Roper grips shown for $65 since I thought the gun deserved them. The Ropers are a bit dented from the ejector on the pre model 17 they came off of. Any input on the deal is appreciated especially if you think the grips are real. I feel I stole the gun. The magna grips had a much a serial in the 600,000 range on them the gun is 260,000 range. Nice trigger I suspect King did an action job as well.

Nice score on grips and gun.
IMO, as a minimun.........you bought the gun for 1/2 price and the grips for 1/3 price

Congrats

Great gun"and great price. Iam about 99% sure those grips are Sandersons though, I have two pair of them for N frames. Have never seen Ropers like that. Still a great price on them too.

Stunning acquisition -- both the gun and the stocks. Congratulations!

I wish I had an idea about finding an original bead, but I don't. However, with all the money you saved on the gun, you could commission a bead from a gunsmith (or jeweler, even) and still be ahead on the deal.

Color me envious.

I would bet those are not Roper grips. If they are , you stole them at $65 ! They look like Sandersons, as said above, which are nice grips. Show me pics of the inside of each grip and I'll tell you how to spot a Roper grip. Nice gun, however! Ed #15

You know I was just looking in a new Midway USA gun parts catalog they sent me a few days back and they had a ton of different shotgun beads, wonder if one of those would be close enough. They had diff sizes, diff materials, even real ivory beads for like $12. Might be worth getting a couple that look close and see if one will work....?

I agree with Ed - those are Sandersons, big as life.

$265? You did steal that gun. Your win, their lose.
I agree, Sanderson Grips. Sanderson was out of the Detroit area in case your not familiar with his grips. There should be a thread or two about his grips in the archives.
You have to let us know how that one shoots.

Sanderson or Roper it does not really matter to me the grips seem to be ideal for a King Super Target. I am keeping them. $65 is not a bad price for them.
