No steer heads or ruby eyes, just honest steel:

Both are 5" 1926 .44 Specials. The nickel one shipped to W &K in the first shipment of 3rd Models. I haven't lettered the blue one, but in is an early '30s issue and most likely went to W & K as well.

For those interested in these scratched up guns, there was a beauty at the Tulsa show, a Registered Magnum, Wolf & Klar shipped, with very good BBQ style W&K scratching, chopped barrel. Ivory steer heads, etc in a great snake skin holster. It was on Ron Peterson's table. Depending on his negotiating skills, it may now be in Dan Meigs stable of BBQ horrors! ( Just kidding!) , if so, we will soon see pics. Ed #15

Hi Ed,

Nope it didnt make it to my collection, but it wasnt for lack of trying. The Reg Mag was posted here in an earlier thread seen here.

engraved reg mag

It was nice but Ron was trying to double his money on it and I wasn't going that high. Oh and the Holster was Armadillo not snake skin.

I fingered that scratched up Registered Mag at the Tulsa show for quite a while!
I think it must have been Ron's Wife I was talking to about it. Nice Lady! She said Ron was out walkin around and gave me a price when I asked. I too thought the gun was a bit high for one that had such an alteration to the barrel. If it weren't cut that would have been a whole different ball game......at least for me! (I like the scratched up one's!!)

I added a few new sets of grips to my Herd though

Wolf & Klar offered both Steerhead Pearls and Eagle Pearls. I bought this set of Eagle pearls along with the K-frame Ivory off a table in the upper level and got the Steerhead Ivory N-frames from Steve H. They were the only things I found to curb my addiction this weekend. I did buy a couple more SD Myres holsters too.

Steve,

Can you provide some examples of your reality please. I have some conclusions of what is W&K and what aren't but would appreciate your expert opinion here if you have one, or are you just speculating again?

Ivories by Dan Collins. As for the 1926, refinished in the early '50s in the factory.

Steve,
There is no easy way to say this- you just flat have a talent for annoying people.

This is getting ridiculous-
First, you state this statement you keep pursuing was made on another board, so why didn't you engage there?
Next, you have asked about the "W-K" mark no less than SIX times in this thread, several times directly to Drew.

What you could do is simply state YOUR opinion, and quit trying to be the High Inquisitor for this board.
If you don't believe there was a "W-K" mark, say so, and move along.
Your habit of grinding every rock into fine dust and goading people is getting old.

Thank you, and take care,
In fact, I was on vacation. Killing things. Lotsa big things. Then I ate them.

You will note Mr. Bryson, that my quote was a query, not a statement. Even one of such humble understanding as you can appreciate the difference.

As far as your aggrieved status and feigned interest in others vis-a-vis a retracted statement, I question your veracity and sincerity. This based upon watching a long, sordid history of your posts over many years.

The fact that you continue to hound me across the Internet after I proved your lack of honor years ago points to a deep insecurity on your part and significant weakness in your character. Subsequently, you are directed to no longer attempt to contradict, twist or misrepresent anything I have said, or may say in the future.

Heretofore you are duly notified to not use any of my copyrighted material without my explicit, written consent.

In short, grow up, get a life and stop trying to prove what an obsessed idiot you really are.

I think Lee has been kind in saying/warning that it has been annoying that you've posted your "W-K" mark question 6 times already.

So after that admonishment, did you have throw down a glove and and ask a 7th time?....

And Linda...

Let me apologize for my part in this hijacking of your thread. I'm hoping it ends here and we can get back to your OCD on the subject..

I will add that in all my years of collecting, I have never seen a W&K offered for sale at the shops that I frequent in Maine. Not sure why...perhaps Drew scoffed them all up long ago, back in the days when they were brand new...

Giz, no problem..

I don't know if I've ever seen one at any of the gun shows I've been to. I'm certainly going to keep my eyes open! I just don't want to pass one by without knowing what it is. (reminds me of the time I passed up a Brazilian that had it's barrel snubbed and trigger guard fizt'd. The price was $250... I just shook my head and couldn't figure out why someone would mess up a 1917! I went back about 45 minutes later and it was gone).

A few shows back, I remember seeing a nickle plated S&W that had some unusual looking "scratch" marks on it. Kinda tacky looking! And it was priced very high. All I could think of at the time was that it had definite after market engraving.

If there's any out there, I'll find them! Buying it is another story.

Default New Acquisition

Here is a new addition to my "private stash"
I'm waiting on a letter from Roy at this moment.
She has a fairly minor mechanical issue that I hope to get taken care of soon.
Her finish and overall cosmetic condition was much better than I had even hoped for.
After about four hours of bench time cleaning her up she looked even BETTER!
The Texas Lawman's Badge that goes with her, (professed to be her original owner) REALLY floats my Boat!!
MANY THANKS and Kudos to Dan M. for making her acquisition possible!

Is there anyone else out there that knows what this Wolf & Klar mark looks like, and where it is usually located on a gun?

Thank you, and take care,
Steve, take a look at this thread (which you yourself posted in):
Wolf & Klar Engraving and Grips

It appears that W&K grips may typically have simple Roman numerals ground into the back of them, to keep them paired up during fitting. Not on the gun itself.

I had a discussion recently with a very "seasoned" street crime sgt. on our local PD about the guns of the old-time peace officers and we both agree that a modern officer is "probably" better armed but in NO way do they have more "style"and class than the old timers.

Hi, Linda. I'm Matt. Nice to meet ya'. You mention seeing a "Fitzed" Brazilian .45. One of the coolest guns I've seen around here is that fitzed M&P .38 with inlayed grips you have. I've always wanted a gun with that treatment. Cut barrel, trigger guard, and hammer spur. I cant bring myself to do it to this most obvious candidate Colt New Service. But the hammer spur will go for sure.
