Great pics of a great gun and holster. I've only seen one A&F holster and it looked just like that.

Very nice! That's a great looking combo!
I just finished taking some pics of a floral tooled revolver case made by Colorado Saddlery. Do you know what years they operated?

Pre-war M&P with an Abercrombie & Fitch holster
Linda, the following is from Colorado Saddlery's current web site. The similarities between Heiser & CS are obvious & are no secret-Van Scoyk & partners learned from the top holster maker/marketer around at the time.
My CS catalogs-including one obtained from Bill Lawrence, the great grandson of George Lawrence-date from the 1940's-'50's.The last CS catalog I have, which is probably late 1950's or early '60's,advertises Hunter brand gun leather.I surmise that CS either got out of the holster game or were involved with the Hunter Co.In any event, they no longer made the fine hand-made holsters they had become known for.Heiser & Colorado Saddlery made almost all of the Abercrombie & Fitch holsters I own;I own 2 A&F holsters made by the George Lawrence Co. & one shotgun shell belt holder made by A.E. Nelson for the west coast A&F store.CS used a different numbering system than Heiser & typically carved their safety straps & other straps where Heiser typically didn't.Heiser's & CS's holster models were very similar or virtually identical.
"Colorado Saddlery was founded in 1945 by four young saddlemakers in Denver, Colorado. These young men had been working for the world famous, Denver based HH Heiser SaddleCo. There they learned the saddle making craft from men who had built saddles for cowboys who rode the open range and had trailed the great herds of cattle north into Colorado. These young saddle makers were determined to carry that tradition forward into the post-World War II era. Over the last sixty-three years Colorado Saddlery has remained true to the original vision:To build the highest quality saddles at affordable prices for the working cowboy.
The last of the original partners, P.R. Van Scoyk retired in 2003 and passed the Saddlery on to his son Jeff Van Scoyk. Jeff is proud to carry on his father’s tradition of selling the highest quality saddlery tack available on the market today. Every product Colorado Saddlery sells has been time tested and carries the Colorado Saddlery seal of excellence. We are proud to be the oldest western saddlery still under original family ownership! "

John,
Thanks for the info on Colorado Saddlery. I posted a new thread and photos of the gun rug I mentioned
Thanks also for the tip about the strappings made by CS. Their holsters are so, so similar to Heiser's, except for the straps!
