Default Help me ID this S&W. updated

I traded for another S&W .38 Special. The problem I am having is that I do not have a model number for it. All it says on it is .38 Special U.S. Service CTG. It is nickel plated or looks like it, and has a forged front sight, 6 inch barrel. Anyone want to try help me ID this? The number of it is 64XXX. There is no pitting or anything else on the it. Just the S&W logo on the other side. It looks like it just came from the factory. Not a scratch on it anywhere no signs of ware and very tight. Any ideas of the value of this?

Hi, and welcome. You have a Military & Police model of 1905, 3rd Model, that was built in 1905. It was called the model 10 after 1957. It is a fairly scarce variant, built only for two years and 10800 total produced.

As far as a value, you probably won't find many to compare in that nice condition for sale. One of the standard price guides says $650, another says $1400 (?!). I'd say closer to the first than the second value, but I'd be interested to see what others think.
