Default My New Victory & Letter

HELLO EVERYONE,
I OBTAINED MY FIRST VICTORY IN DECEMBER AND HAVE BEEN WAITING VERY UN-PATIENTLY FOR MY LETTER FROM MR.JINKS TO ARRIVE SO I COULD POST IT ON THIS FINE FORUM. WELL, WHEN I GOT HOME TONIGHT MY WIFE WAS LOOKING AT THE MAIL AND HAD MY LETTER HID UNDER ALL THE JUNK MAIL ( FUNNY GIRL ).
THIS VICTORY IS SERIAL NUMBER V385652 WITH MATCHING PARTS EXCEPT THE GRIPS. THE ACTION IS SMOOTH WITH A TIGHT LOCKUP AND THE BORE IS UNBLEMISHED. IT HAS "U.S. PROPERTY G.H.D" STAMPED ON THE TOP STRAP. I COULD HARDLY BE HAPPIER WITH MY 1ST VICTORY.
OH YES, BACK TO THE LETTER. YA'LL KNOW THAT THE FIRST PAGE IS JUST A GENERAL HISTORY AND THE SECOND PAGE CONTAINS THE INFORMATION WE ARE REALLY SEEKING. I SAT THERE TONIGHT READING THE FIRST PAGE ALOUD AS I KNEW MY WIFE WAS ALMOST AS EXCITED AS I WAS. WHEN I GOT TO THE SECOND PAGE I KIND OF LOST MY VOICE WHEN I FOUND OUT IT WAS SHIPPED TO THE UNITED STATES NAVY WHICH IS EXACTLY WHAT I HAVE BEEN HOPPING FOR! SORRY TO BE SO LONG-WINDED BUT I COULDN'T CONTAIN MY EXCITEMENT.
I'VE INCLUDED AN IMAGE OF MY VICTORY AND A COPY OF THE LETTER.
THANKS TO ALL OF YOU FOR THE KNOWLEDGE I'VE GATHERED READING THIS FORUM.

GLENN

Glenn,

Welcome to the Forum and congratulations on your Navy lettered Victory! I have 2 that lettered to the Navy, and neither has Navy markings on it. Are you planning to shoot yours? I take my mine to the range a couple of times each year and thoroughly enjoy shooting them. I hope you enjoy yours as much.

Regards,

Jerry

Congratulations on a very nice Victory, and the pleasant surprise.

I lucked out on my 2. #576xx with "USNavy" on the top strap was shipped to the Navy at Oakland on 8/4/42. My #2652xx, marked "USProperty" was shipped to the Navy at Norfolk on 3/19/43.

Those letters from Roy Jinks are worth every penny, in my opinion.

Enjoy your new aquisition.

THANKS FOR THE KIND WORDS ABOUT THE VICTORY AND THE WIFE!

JERRY, I HAVE SHOT MY VICTORY A COUPLE OF TIMES ALREADY AND IT'S GREAT FUN. THE ONLY THING IS I DON'T HAVE ACCESS TO A NICE SHOOTING RANGE. I LIVE IN A VERY RURAL AREA AND I'M FORCED TO SHOOT IN THE BACKYARD.

KIKOKAT, THOSE ARE TWO GREAT LOOKING VICTORIES! I'M NOW IN THE HUNT FOR ONE OF THOSE HOLSTERS.

"I LIVE IN A VERY RURAL AREA AND I'M FORCED TO SHOOT IN THE BACKYARD."

Most of our Forum members would like to be in your shoes. I am blessed to have twenty acres and I also shoot out back.

Congrats on your Victory model.

Hello

I used to live in Homer, Alaska, when I wanted to go and fire my No.4 Mk.I* Lee-Enfield Rifle I would just drive outside of town and go to the local "gravel pit" and shoot all I wanted to, it was totally legal.

Now that I live here in the lower 48, I really miss that freedom. Around here (inner city Toledo, Ohio...no comment) there is no where to fire a centre-fire rifle...without paying mega bucks to belong to one of the few local "conservation clubs"...where it is spendy and there is a waiting list.

Needless to say the last time I fired my S&W Model 10-5 and my .380" cal. British Service Revolver (I think the term "Victory Model" is only correct for the US .38" Special version?), I had to pay $20 to spend an hour at a an indoor range. And I was grateful to be able to do that. I really miss having a free location to go shooting, and if I lived outside of the city limits, God knows I'd spend a lot more time outside LOL. Be grateful for what you have.

Congrats on your US Navy Victory Model revolver. I know people on here are sick and tired of me mentioning that my Dad went through three of them during his time in the War as a gunner in a TBM Avenger, so I'm sorry for bringing that up again LOL. I really hope that when I can scrounge enough cash, there is at least one US Navy Victory Model left out there that I can buy for a half-way decent price...no matter how beat, knackered up, re-finished, having wrong stocks, etc. it is LOL.
Thanks
Mark

Wow! I'm considering purchasing a 40s .38 M&P and reading everything I can to learn more about them and the "Victory". As I read your post, I thought that it was probably the real deal. The letter makes it true. Congratulations!

Congratulations on a very nice piece of history! I purchased a pre-Victory at the end of December and am now waiting for my letter of documentation.

Like you I am blessed to be able to walk outside and "exercise" my firearms - 57 acres of heaven. Unfortunately, it's been a bit cold in northeast PA lately so taking mine out to fire her will probably have to wait for a little while!

Thanks for sharing your find with us!!
