Default K22 Outdoorsman w/box value

What would a realistic value for a K22 Outdoorsman in 98% condition with original grips and red box thats in excellent shape? You see them priced all over the place on the auction sites but I'd like a realistic value.

thanks

Hi, there are many experts on the Forum who probably track current auction and sale prices, but I would say one as you describe with original finish and a matching numbered box (in grease pencil on the bottom?) would be in the $1200 range. Interested to see what others think.

Hard to tell without pictures, the box itself is worth quite a bit....... I'm sure you are getting blasted with emails and PM's about this gun and it's box.

Be careful and certainly do not tell them where this K22 is located if you already do not have posession. You'll find it will have disappeared if you do.

I'm thinking the OD would probably go for $1100 by itself. The box puts it up a couple of hundred more, if it's in good shape. Even without seeing the package, I would guess most K-22 collectors would spring $1250 for what you have without a second thought. You would have fewer takers at $1500, but if you can find one you have set the gun's price.

I have a California perspective on things, so others may find the numbers I mention a little inflated.

I thought I would post the one that I own. It's a 98% firearm, I'm going to say it's one of the most perfect revolers I have ever seen. I wish S&W still made them like this. It is factory correct(not restored) I would be hard pressed to sell this one, it would take alot to part with this one...

A gun in the condition as the one gjamison posted pictures of would bring $1,800 to $2,000.
Anything less, goes down.
I have a few of them and wouldn't take what monies are being talked about here for a 98% gun. They will pull the money if condition is high.

Welcome to the forum! The gun under discussion here is a pre-war FIRST model K-22 Outdoorsman's revolver. Assuming that the serial # 51xx is preceded by the letter "K", your K-22 is a THIRD model post-war K-22 Masterpiece and was manufactured in 1947. So where's the pics?

I find the S&W and the colt older 22cal revolvers can be priced from $695 to $1,300 depending on its condition, model and year it was manufactured.

Whats the difference between a target masterpiece and an outdoorsman?

I just purchased a S&W K-22 Target Masterpiece in 22cal in blue with a 6" barrel for $695. It had some very light freckling and rubbing it with a very soft cloth and some simi chrome polish removed most of the freckling. Without hurting the blued finish.
