Default M&P 5 Screw gun show find and DOB

New to posting here, but have visited before. I was to a gun show here in Ohio to advise my sister and brother-in-law on a home defense gun for their first firearm. A guy was carrying around a minty (98%) 5 screw 4" M&P with the original box that was his grandfathers. Got it for $325 which I thought was very good. Very nice for a bedroom gun, and they won't ever lose money on it. A collector gun to start out with. I also saw a 85-90% 1905 for $225 that I should have grabbed.
Serial number on the M&P is C108XXX. I know it is post war. Any date info please? Found a box of older Speer 125gr Gold Dot HP standard pressure that I told them to use. I will load them some practice ammo to learn on.

C108xxx is a .38 M&P postwar premodel 10. Production of this pistol with the C prefix began in 1948. Front sight was changed to a ramp from a half moon in 1952. So that should give you an idea.

Default Figured it was in that range

Thought it was around there. The gun is at my sister's house, so I don't really remember which front sight it has. I am also going to get the Standard book of S&W at the library.
