Default Interesting find at the gun show today

I spotted a nice vintage Military & Police today, nothing overly extravagant, but a simple .38 Special 5 screw gun, ok blued finish with a 4-inch barrel. A nice late 1940's gun. What was really nice, was the grips. Someone at one time took off the original grips and put on an old set of gold medallion M & P square butt grips that I normally see on 1920's era guns. The price on the gun was right, and since I was looking for a M & P in .38 Special, I put a deposit on it. But what of those grips? Are they worth much by themselves since I don't think they go on this gun?

I think if those gold medallion stocks are in real good shape they should in the 100 dollar + range.

I agree. The original grips are plentiful. You could ebay the large medallion grips and buy diamond small medallion grips for less than half probably and pocket the rest. Nice find. The old 5 screw M&Ps are classic.
