Default Look. Another one of those 38/44 Heavy Duties.

This one is just barely a pre war, shipped April 11th 1940 to the Williamsburg Virginia Public Safety Director, Yale Huffman.
Serial number 59037, this one was one of eight in the order, and sports the factory ordered "hump back" hammer. It was ordered with 5 inch blued, with checkered walnut Magna Grips.
Typical cop's gun. More exterior wear than mechanical, the grips are not numbered to the gun and it was reblued at some point and has that tell tale "purple" cylinder.

I had a wonder sight on it and shot some pretty nice groups at 25 and 50 yards with a 358156 cast gas checked HP over 11.5 grs of 2400 in a 38 Special case.

Nice one! I love HDs.

I am coming to realize that more than just a few of them probably shipped with humpback hammers installed from 1938 through 1940. I would have predicted that none did, in light of the hammer's design as an assist to timed target shooting. Why put them on a fixed-sight gun? But clearly that happened from time to time.

Nice one-I love the HBH when I have shot one of mine. Maybe it was like getting am/fm/cd player in your car today-you just have to have the latest! I know some don't like them, but I do-to each their own. Thanks for sharing.
