Gun show finds
I prowl the guns show in North East Iowa and have not had much luck finding collectable S&W models. I was at the show in Dubuque Feb. 20 and found the following.
A first model K22 with box and screw driver and a M&P 6 inch that looks unfired.

Those are beautiful! That screwdriver looks like the "tiny tip" variety (don't know what else to call it) that BlackAgnes got one of with a Kit Gun last year. Congratulations.
The M&P, with high shoulder magnas and hammer stud/rebound slide pin polished flat to the frame, is probably from 1945-1946.
Clearly I need to go to better gun shows. Two thumbs way up for the fine pair you posted.

Congratulations! Very nice finds. I'm envious - all I see is plastic anymore.

Congratulations! Great find and certainly worth waiting for. I agree with Jerry, all I see around here is plastic anymore.

Roy, You did good on this one! A screwdriver like that recently sold on ebay for $590. (It's really not a screw driver. It's the sight adjustmnet tool for the rear target sight.) Now, having told you the good news, there should have been other tools in the box, a real screw driver, either nickle or blue, with knurled handle with 8 rows of knurling, and a brush & wiper rod. Being the pure collector you are, I know you will lose sleep at night wondering why you only bought a partial set - so, since I have a big heart for my Iowa kin, just send me gun, box and sight adjustment tool and you will sleep better at night! Uncle Ed

Toyman, well done. The Outdoorsman is in absolutely beautiful condition. Does it have the gold beaded front sight or the stainless? Can you give us a partial on the serial number as to what year it was manufactured?
Now, I would love to have that M&P if the hole in the end was a lot smaller.
"there should have been other tools in the box, a real screw driver, either nickle or blue, with knurled handle with 8 rows of knurling, and a brush & wiper rod."
Ed, since he has the proper pre war sight adjusting tool for the small screw rear sight what other 'screwdriver' are you speaking of?
The blue and nickeled knurled sight adjustment tools (screwdrivers) came after the large headed screws were employed.

Nice set of revolvers. I have never gone to the Dubuque shows, usually going to the Cedar Rapids and Waterloo shows, but I may have to start. Congrats!
