Navy Victory
Picked one up today. The guy sold it to me as a set "complete" with canvas holster and a 1917 dated lanyard. The price was right so I didn't tell him I knew the lanyard and holster were not correct for the gun. I'll park my New Zealand lend lease Victory in the holster and probably sell the lanyard to someone who wants one for their 1917 S&W or Colt. I don't do pics. I'd guess the Victory is 90% plus. Serial number is V186835. I suspect it was shipped to Oakland unless one of you guys tell me different. I'm not gonna letter it because I don't plan on selling it and don't really care. It is marked U.S. Navy on the left side of the top strap.

Nice catch, Charlie! I assume the gun is chambered in .38 Special - and with a Navy pedigree, will cover your admission fee. Now, I will be interested in hearing how it shoots. Mine are, comfortingly, right on with 158 gr. ammo at 30 to 50'.
My Victory Models both shoot better than I do. I like to feel that carrying a Smith & Wesson Victory on your hip in the "War To End All Wars" helped the guy in the field - or airman - feel he some sense of security if all else fell apart.
I think about this every time I take my Victories to the range.

V186592 was issued to the Great Lakes Naval Training Station, and V186740 was issued to the US Coast Guard in New Jersey, and would have been marked USCG. V186835 went to the Navy in Nov. 1942. Ed.

Thanks Ed. Gonna go put a few rounds through it and a Winchester Garand I picked up a couple of weeks ago after lunch.
