Default Triple lock for $901?

Saw a listing on Auction arms a couple of days ago that was listed as a
S&W 6 1/2" 44 special. I opened the auction expecting a M24 but the first picture showed a prewar gun that had been nickled including the trigger and hammer and non diamond magnas. The next picture showed the right side and the third lock (picture wasn't too clear on my laptop, but I'm pretty sure it was the lock).

Put it on my watch list for curiosity sake to see how high it would go. I'm not too familiar with values, but now I'm wondering if I should have bid on it. Money is really tight right now, so Iwould haave had to sell some of my other Smiths to buy it. Did I drop the ball on this one?

I'm gonna try to post the link, but if I can't, here is the auction number; 9627398

It was a T-Lock, but the sale price of $901 was all it was worth as a shooter, assuming it was in good mechanical condition. The seller obviously didn't know what he was selling and described the gun incorrectly. No collector value there. Ed.

I wouldn't worry too much one way or the other on that one. You didn't miss a steal, but who knows, it may have been fun to own as a shooter. Of course, there has got to be some value in being able to start a sentence with "The other day, while I was shooting my Triple Lock, ..."

The $900 should be saved (and added to) in the hopes of finding a better one some day, IMHO.

I also found that listing on AuctionArms by accident. Whoever was selling it obviously didn't know that they had a Triple Lock. I had the high bid on it at around $375 until somebody out there discovered what I knew and started a bidding war. I dropped out at $900. Somebody wanted it more badly than I did!

Even though it was an obvious renickle, I was hoping to score it for a low price as a shooter. As usual I got outbid.
