.32-20 Model 1905, 4th Change (Found correct grips)
I started a thread a while ago about the .32-20 I had purchased and posted pics of it, showing the grips that came on the gun. It was suggested that the grips might be for a newer gun and were incorrect for mine, which was made in 1920. Thanks to some good people here, I now realize they were correct.
I sent to S&W for a factory letter and received it today, and it states in the letter that the gun was shipped with checkered walnut, gold medallion grips.
I went to a local show on Saturday and found the correct set of grips, so here are some photos of them. They were in a showcase with a bunch of other grips and were priced at $50.00.
Now that I know the grips are correct I am extremely happy and very glad that I sent for the letter.
Thank you Mr. Jinks.
Bill

Bill:
Are you saying you installed some different stocks than the ones pictured in the original post from March 9th?

Thank you for the clarification. I guess I was hoping too much. Oh well, I am still very happy with the gun and have no regrets about buying it or sending for the letter. Maybe someday I will come across a pair of the correct grips, but I'm not going to agonize over them. Again, thank you.

Bill,
Gold med grips are not that hard to find. Watch ebay and you will see them come along. There is more action on the silver med grips that came on your gun because of more interest in the M&P's sold early in the war to the Brits and US, and because of the K-22's that need grips. My point is that you might find it rather easy to trade that silver pair for the correct gold pair.
NICE old gun, BTW- I looked up your earlier post.

Thank you handejector, I appreciate your comments and the compliment. I just bought a Wondersight and installed it on the gun, and I'm hoping to try it out tomorrow morning. Black Hills ammo and my reloads are shooting low and to the right, and to get the bullets in the bull I have to hold high left, so I'm hoping the Wondersight will help.
By the way, I got it on Gun Broker for $329.00, which I thought was good.

I've got these 2 M&P 1905 4th changes in .38. Anyone know where I could order different grips from?

Welcome to the Forum, nextshooter.
Have you looked at the inside of the right grips? They could be numbered to the revolvers, probably in pencil. The number should match the one found on the butt.
Do you want different grips for shooting? A standard K frame will fit, but probably not perfectly.

Thanks sir. I actually have a few 1905s. I just love shooting them and pick them up whenever I can. I'm planning on giving these two to my dad and my uncle some time soon. You might not be able to see in the phot but the original checkered girps are pretty chewed up. Looking to change the grips on the nickle one to ivory or pearl and getting some wood grips for the blued one. I've already made some nice display boxes for them and new grips would just make it that much better.
I'll take a shot and order some K-frame square butt grips.
thanks!!
