Default my pre40 centennial grip delema

ok, some of you may have seen my posts about looking for grips for my pre40 centennial, I picked up some J frame diamonds and they dont fit, but, it was suggested I modify them to fit. so here is my question. the grips I picked up are not perfect, there are some chips buy the trigger guard but they will be covered by the tyler T. if I modify the disk the medallion is riveted to they will fit but be about a 1/4" to short at the butt. think I should do it or keep looking, I have called al over the country to everyone i can think of and cant find grips.

Those grips are for an I frame. I wouldn't modify them - they're actually not easy to find if ya need 'em.

The 'correct' grips for your gun are what we refer to as "high horn" (smooth) magnas and are unique to the Centennial models. Those grips are around, but they're not something you're gonna find on every street corner.

Persistence will pay off.... Try a 'WTB' ad for "high horn" Centennial grips.

I have the high horn diamond grips you need. Shoot me an email to [email protected] and Iam sure you will be happy with the price. Maybe I can even trade for the I frames? The I frame grips might be worth a little more if you want to sell them yourself.
matt

Edit to add I dont have the smooth grips but I do have the high horn diamond checkered grips that will fit your gun and look great.

Are you sure all the Cent models came with smooth grips? I hade a lightweight Cent that had checkered diamond high horn magnas....

Actually send me your mailing addy and I will send them out on tues. If you decide to keep them you can send me like $20 or the I frame grips, if not just send them back. They will fit your gun perfectly.

I don't think I have seen Centennial stocks with checkering. I wonder if Pontiker could have misidentified them?

SP, I didn't think I had seen any checkered Centennial stocks before either, but there is a set for auction on GB.
