Default K-22 Masterpiece, Vintage 1955

Here's my new favorite...
S/N: K2361XX, a 5 screw K-22 from early 1955.

I recently acquired this from a fellow Montanan, with a set of non-relieved target stocks. It shoots like a tack driver.

I've got several other K-22s and an Outdoorsman, but they're just too nice to pack around on the ranch. This one is a joy to handle and use as a working gun.

I'm told the non-relieved stocks were only made for a year, or two. The K-22 may be the only model you can get away with using them on, without causing damage during ejection. On a .38/.357 gun, it's almost impossible to eject cartridges without striking the left stock.

The holster is by Colorado Saddlery, and also dates to the 1950's. I have to admit, though, that it only goes out on special occaisions. Mostly I carry the K-22 in an older Hunter holster.

It's a classy set-up and would be anyones favorite!

I like period correct stocks and leather for some of my shooters too.

It's fun to have 'em just like they were "back in the day".

That's a great looking combination of vintage K-22 and leather.

Thanks for sharing with us.

Excellent revolver excellently equipped. I also have unrelieved target stocks on one of my K-22s. I put some on a K-38 as well but haven't fired the gun since mounting them. I'll have to see if there is a conflict.

I recently acquired a K-32 with some later diamond magnas that don't quite fit it. I have a couple more sets of unrelieved diamond targets lying around, and one set may go on the .32 as well.

Mitch, great looking combination! The gun, the holster, and those stocks all go together beautifully! I love diamond target stocks! I keep an eye open for a set, but they don't come along often. At least not for me. Congratulations on a great outfit!

I have one made in 1955 also, shown below with Herrett's grips. I have newer and older ones, but for some reason this is the one that most often goes to the range, by far:

I have a 1956 and a newer 17-3. The old guns just seem to shoot like a dream with those smooth actions...

Nice piece there.

I've got K244xxx, also from 1955 and it's my favorite revolver to shoot. They were doing things right back then.

Great looking gun and holster. I recently picked up a set of unrelieved targets; now I'm gonna have to try them on my 55-K22. -S2

I have a 1955 5-screw K-22 Serial K 2413XX with the "speed hammer", tapered barrel, the high gloss "Bright" finish and the charcoal gray box. It's shown with a vintage George Lawerence basketweave holster. It's by far my favorite rimfire handgun.

Nice gun. Enjoy it!

Have fun and be safe.

Really some nice guns being shown on this thread. The period holsters are great too. Nice to have a complete package.

Here's a late pre model 4 screw shipped late 1957. I am not sure if the red ramp front sight is original, but it too is a tackdriver.

The K22s shown in these threads are what collectors' (and shooters') dreams are made of. I have a 48 vintage K22 that I just love taking to the range. Still a tack driver. I'm not much of a computer guy and if I ever figure an easy way to post pictures on this form I will.
