I bought one of these a few months ago and was amazed the first time out at the range. No other revolver I've ever owned came close to how it felt to fire this gem.

Nothing special? That's an excellent example IMO. The value you get in these old Pre-10s and model 10s is just exceptional. ~$300 for a little piece of American history and true craftsmanship.

A Pre-10 [or Post War Military and Police] in a 5 inch barrel, just like yours, is my favorite "Pre-10/M10" version of them all.
It handles the best for me.
You did great.

Sweet Looking Model 10 and it's true that they are a bargin for the level of craftsmanship that you get when you buy one.

Very nice piece. Looks like super condition. And I was wondering, does yours have a "S" prefix? I looked at one just yesterday that looked very similar to yours (except for condition). It had the one line address, matching number magnas, pre war type hammer and the serial number was S 88xxxx (from memory). The fella wanted $200 out the door and I have been heavily considering picking it up. I can't remember the latest guidlines for calling it a transitional but I think it may be one. No matter what title it would be a great shooter. You sure have a fine one.

Sure is a nice example! As with most things, craftsmanship and pride in craftsmanship, is hard to find.
Roger (Memphis), you need to go get the one you saw, before someone else beats you to it! $200 otd? Can't hardly buy a pocket full of rocks for that!

Hi,
Great looking M&P. I just love these revolvers. With the tapered barrel they balance so well in your hand. I love mine.
Enjoy yours,

Yes Roger it does have a S prefix S 9466xx. You had better hop out the door for that one at 200.00

Roger, go get that gun NOW. With the S prefix on a six-digit serial number in the high 800000's you have a long-action transitional gun. The short action Pre-10s came in almost in sync with the shift to the C-prefix serial numbers, except that the very first C-prefix units -- about one month's production -- would have been long action revolvers. I say that based on my interpretation of dates and serial numbers reported in SCSW.

I'd use the rent money for that one. Hey it's summer. Tents are cool
David, what does C7011 do for ya? It's a four inch LNIB.
