Default 22/32 kit gun 99% with scratch

I have the option to buy a 29XXX SN kit gun, 99+% in excellent original to gun sunburst box for $600. But it has a scratch on the sideplate. Should I pass or is this a good deal even with the scratch? Appreciate your opinions Thanks Bob

I would pass. the scratch translates into a shooter grade. YMMV

About $200 too high with the scratch...

I am not an expert but these are my favorite Smiths and I own many and have looked at 100's in my years of collecting. I will try to give you some short yes and nos but more info would be helpful. The serial # indicates around 1956-58.
6" pre or mod 35 - Buy+
4" pre or mod 34 - Buy
2" pre or mod 34 - Buy+
a flat latch in any of the above is a plus
pre to early post war is a +++
Any nickel ++
I guess I would ignor the scratch if it is 99%. and it is all original with box and tools/papers You could not begin to touch one as you show in my area for $400(even with the scratch) and being a "shooter grade".
These little .22s are RED HOT nationally and with the cost of ammo,don't look for them to go down. $550-$700 and selling at recent area shows more for pre-war with VERY few of any sort showing up. Hope this semi-expert advice helps
