Newb question on a 25-2
Greetings
I am new to the wheel gun collecting, always have been a 1911 guy. Went to a gun shop that I frequent and came across a S & W 25-2 1955. It appears that has never been fired, no wheel markings on it that I could see (could of been reblued but I do not think it was) came with the wooden presentation case and 9 full moon clips. Since I am a pretty good customer, the manager of the store let me out the door for $569 + tax. Can anyone give me any input as to if I did allright or not?
Thanks
Ed

You did great. If I got that kind of offer I would have sprained my wrist getting my wallet out fast enough.

Appreciate it, I am now thinking that the manager did not know what he had in the display case.

Unless its a gun store in a fairly small town I doubt that the guy didn't know what he had there - possible, but not likely. Perhaps he 'stole it' from some body down on their luck and he justed wanted to move it rather than trying to get top dollar.
In any case - you did well young Skywalker!!!

You got a pretty good deal, normally that would have been $750 +

I live in Tallahassee, but bought this in a very small town about 60 miles away. One of the reasons I drive all the way out there is he is the best kept secret in the area.

You got a great deal. The internet must not have made it to that gunshop yet. If you reload you can buy .45 AutoRim brass if you do not like using moon clips. Search the forum for demooner to find how to make a simple cheap demooning tool.

I would have thought the $550 range about right for a 25-2 as these were never as popular as the Magnum models but everyone else seems to think they sell for a lot more. What do I know?
But it is a very nice gun. Big and heavy, but they usually shoot well.
