Default A model 10 question...

Hi everybody

A simple question : has a real model 10 (I mean not a M&P, not a pre-10) ever had a half-moon front sight ?

Bonjour!

The only one I can think of was made in 1999 for the 100th anniversary of the M & P, without the forward locking point for the ejector rod - the 1899 replica or 10-13. I don't think a standard model 10 ever had one after 1952.

I believe members have reported seeing round sights until around 1956 or 57. My inclination is to say that if any model marked guns were made with this sight, they were very few in number and it was S&W using uo old inventory. You learn to never say never with S&W.

A 10-9??? C'mon. WAY too new to have a "half-Moon" or round front sight.

The real deal:

And some of the "Classic" models have them:
