5" barrel, nickle plated, barrel says: 38 s&w special ctg.

nickel plating was definitely aftermarket. Victory's were parkerized. That's about all I'm useful for, I'm sure some of the experts will chime in.

Welcome. It is either a .38 S & W caliber British service revolver (commonly 5" barreled), or a 4" US military contract gun in .38 Special. What is the barrel length from cylinder face to muzzle? If it is 5" it is a replacement; the gun's serial number should be stamped on the barrel flat above the ejector rod.

In either case, it has been refinished, as these came in Black Magic, similar to Parkerizing. Do you have photos? Hope this is helpful.

looks like the barrel has been replaced the number does not match the one on the butt. barrel number is cn 205932. it is a 5" barrel marked 38 s&w special ctg.
