This one is 1954 production (a year older than me). I really like the half moon front sight and fish hook hammer.

The stocks are serial numbered to the gun. Its not perfect but it is not half bad either.

Here's my 4 screw from around 1958

And here's my 5 inch from around 1925. It has correct stocks on it now but haven't taken a picture of it yet.

These are the prettiest safe queens I've ever seen.
This one looked like that in 1950.

Default My pre-Model 10 6"

I got this in the spring. It appears to be an unused police gun, as it has an arsenal stamping on the butt. Came as a package with the box and paperwork and cleaning tools.

I really like the appearance of the "Pre-Model" K-Frame .38 S&Ws. I guess its because they invoke images of a historic and more ordered past.

About 1954 I think.

About 1950

About 1919.

Here is mine, serial number 2653xx, made about 1917. She shoots like a dream. It's hard to beat the quality and worksmanship that went into these old revolvers.

That's an interesting illustration of the variations in checkering patterns of post-war magnas. Beautiful guns there.

Just back home from Africa I bought it new in '49 for $71.50. My Dad sent me several pistol grips and I had them copied in ivory at about $6 a pair. I did the decor.

I think rhmc24 takes the cake for having owned his the longest.

I find it interesting how the hammer and front sight styles overlap. Some guns are round sight/Speed Hammer, some are ramped/Speed Hammer, some are round/modern hammer.

I have a couple but nothing that hasn't been seen before. I guess the true "pre10" would be an M&P from 1946 to 1957 so these will fit:

Here's mine that I picked up a few days ago. I'm told it dates to 1929. It came with a Pachmayr rubber grip on it, but thanks to a board member it now has a correct set of stocks on it

My favorite shooter, it's been reblued and the larger grips fill the hand, all in all, a great range gun.

Was rereading this thread this afternoon, and it is a great collection
of M&P's. Here is one last contribution - its a set of .32 M&P's from
1949 - 1950.

I'd swoon over a 4-inch or 5-inc M&P .32 but that 2-inch just flips me out!

You'd do a double flip if you knew the price I had to pay for it !

Default .38 M&P Airweight, pre 12

Here's my newly acquired pre 12, C350xxx, shipped in Feb. 1956. Hope it qualifies.

Arrow M&P

For a S and W model 1905 (M&P) with serial 491373 and a 2 inch barrel chambered in 38 spl: When would this firearm have been manufactured and what change is it? Also how common are 2 inch barrels? It has square butt walnut grips (hand checkered).

Pictures to come...

Thanks!

Mike:
The 32s are Great. I will bet that it would be hard to put that set together again.
As far as the 2" Pre-War M&Ps are concerned, Roy told me that S&W did not catalog them until 1935. S&W sure miss the boat with there 2" 6 shot .38s. Colt took control of that market in the 20s with their Detective Special.

Here's a nice one that I recently came across:

SN S9478xx; I'm guessing from 1947. Original box & grips. This thing looks like it has never been fired; not mine and soon to be offered for sale. -S2

Default Wow that is nice...

Do you know if the person is going to list it on Gunbroker or similar? Nice with the box and everything.

My first Pre 10 M&P which was traded in at my favorite gun shop just before Christmas. Shows a lot of carry wear, however it locks as tight as new.

Gator, I just had a multiple seizure experience looking at your photos. Too nice!

Can you say more about the .32-20 with the supplementary cylinder in .32 Long?

Here's a bump. My 1920s M&P. Mine isn't the best one, but it's got an interesting story. It was used in a bank robbery and was given to my Great-Grandfather. The man said he would be back for it when he got out, but he died in prison. I am the fourth generation owner in my family.

M&P, old refinish, timed like a swiss clock and locks up like a bank vault!

The ubiquitous 5" square butt.
