Default Replacement Grips for Pre-29

I am trying to find a set of grips for a Pre-Model 29 that my father left me.

Where did the original set go? Some idiot (me) replaced them with smooth grips and gave away the originals.

My Authenticity Letter says the revolver is a Five Screw Variation (SN S1525XX) that was shipped in 1956 with "checkered Goncalo Alves target grips". I believe the original set had a football divot on the left grip, but I am not absolutely sure. I would like to match the original configuraion.

I've seen "N-Frame Grips" advertised on line, but don't know if they are correct for this older model. If I can not get a perfect match to the original set, I would like to confirm the N-Frame Grips will give a good fit.

Thanks in advance.

From the description, you are looking for diamond target stocks with the extractor (or "football") cutout. The other type of stock available at that time was the special order "Coke bottle" style. Any square butt N frame stocks should fit well. Hope this is helpful.

Default Welcome to the forum

The original grips would have been what is known as "Cokes" or coke bottle shaped grips. There is an FAQ sticky on them. Depending on the shape of your gun a comparable shape set of grips will run $300 and up. Any square butt N Frame grip will work if you dont want to pay the price for originals. Nill makes a reproduction that is close to original and cheaper.

One or two

K squared

I DO have a set I would sell that from most outward appearances are perfect with GREAT figure in them. They have had a minor alteration to the bottom that cant be seen unless you look right at the bottom. They would do until a better set came along. $250 shipped. Call me if you like 417 861-2362
