Default need id help on what I suspect is a K-22

greetings gentlemen, this piece is a 4" .22 One guy who saw it said it was a post war K-22 and he may be right. It just feels a bit older to me but I am no expert, more of a hunter than collector (until I get the kids raised anyway) it has a ser # of 96xxx with what looks like a 1 centered above and a 7 below. no letters in the ser # itself.
any thoughts on model and production date?
thanks in advance, and I have enjoyed browsing the forum on this my 1st visit.

The serial number will be on the butt of the frame . . . I suspect the number posted is an assembly number from the crane area.

The post war 6" K22 Masterpiece had a 4" counterpart, the 22 Combat Masterpiece. After 1957, model number 17 and 18 will be found on the 6" and 4" respectively.

Make sure to include any letters that preceed the digits. Possibly it
will be a K .
